Costa Rica's Forgotten People

Updated: Jul 27, 2022

Costa Rica has 24 indigenous territories inhabited by 8 different tribes. The conditions of poverty and neglect in which these forgotten people live are truly heartbreaking; but something can be done!

In a country where nearly 20% of the general population lives below the poverty line, this percentage attains alarming heights in the case of the country’s Indigenous Peoples: Cabé- car 94.3%; Ngäbe 87.0%; Bröran 85.0%; Bribri 70.8%; Brunka 60.7%; Maleku 44.3%; Chorotega 35.5% and Huetar 34.2%.

Our goal is to help facilitate basic human needs to the Indigenous communities of Costa Rica, by providing better conditions for education, play and basic medical needs. Your donations can help change kids lives for a brighter future

EDUCATION_schools which the indigenous attend are not funded properly, and the students aren't given the same resources to learn. As for the universities, the indigenous are fighting to gain qualifications so that they can earn higher paying jobs.

HEALTHCARE-Indigenous peoples of Costa Rica often do not receive adequate healthcare services due to lack of access: they are situated in difficult terrain, particularly in the mountains. Only about 26% of the Indigenous population have access to clean water. Therefore, the Indigenous peoples tend to rely on traditional medicinal practices.

Full circle has reached out to the Borucas with a donation of clothes and school materials, we hope to do much more, with your help.
